Lena Holloway: Lena is the main protagonist and narrator of the story. She is 18 years old and lives in Portland, Maine. She's shy
Alex Sheathes: Alex is the male love interest of Delirium. He was born in the Wilds, and is currently undercover in Portland as a member of the resistance.
Hana Trent: Hana is Lena's best friend and comes from a well known family.
Setting:
Portland, Maine: This is where Lena and Hana live, and it is also where Alex is undercover for the resistance.

Where The Book Left Off:
Lena and Alex are doing better then ever, so Lena lets her best friend Hana in on the secret. Hana begins to cover for Alex and Lena so that they can spend more time together, and Lena eventually decides that she can't lose Alex. They then plan to run away together, but due to someone telling the authorities about their relationship - Lena's cure is moved up to the next day and she's put under house arrest. While under arrest, her best friend Hana visits her and Lena gives her a secret message to pass onto Alex. Some time later Alex arrives outside her home on a motorcycle and the two plan on running away to the the Wilds. While in the process of crossing the fence, Lena looks behind and sees that Alex has been shot. He tells her to run, so she runs.
